Jean-Robert Recommends Healthy and Yummy Almonds
With all the different options for snacks these days, sometimes it's nice just to go back to the basics and enjoy one of nature's best treats. Almonds are a very good source of vitamin E, manganese and protein. They also contain magnesium, copper, riboflavin (vitamin B2), and phosphorus which make them fantastic for a pre-workout energy snack!
What makes them so Great?
Almonds are low-glycemic, which helps protect against Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease because they are a slow burning source of fuel. One-quarter cup contains about 18 grams of fat, fortunately most of it (11 grams) is heart healthy monounsaturated fat. These health promoting monounsaturated fats can lower LDL Cholesterol and reduce your risk of Heart Disease.
A Great Bonus!
Low in calories, almonds can actually help you lose weight. A handful is only 129 calories and provides great vitamins and proteins.
If you don't have any handy, try the Bumble Bar, an all organic, gluten free energy bar full of almonds available at JR's Gym!
